dedicated EV sales and service function specifically to support the company’s expanding zero-emissions business
DAF Trucks has announced the introduction of a dedicated EV sales and service function, specifically to support the company’s expanding zero-emissions product and service offering.
The new department, based at DAF Trucks’ UK headquarters in Haddenham, is tasked with meeting the challenge of the company’s transition to low and zero emission vehicles, which is likely to be the most significant strategic challenge for DAF Trucks – and the wider commercial vehicle industry – during the next decade.
Adam Bennett has been appointed to head-up the new division, taking the newly-created position of EV and sustainability manager. He has previously worked to support the introduction of DAF Trucks’ zero-emissions trucks to the UK market; the DAF LF Electric and CF Electric products.
He has been instrumental in supporting DAF Trucks’ role in the recent Battery Electric Truck Trial now being rolled-out by the UK Government. He is also the EV Charger ‘SPOC” (Single Point of Contact) for his colleagues at DAF Trucks in Eindhoven.
Supporting Adam is Amy Carter, who has been named as EV operations manager. Carter has been a technical trainer for DAF Trucks since 2018, recently specialising in EVs. She possesses a wealth of product knowledge and has worked in many roles in the automotive industry, and also boasts Six Sigma certification.
David Price, previously DAF Trucks’ EV expert and municipal sales manager, has left the company to fulfil an EV sales and support role with home counties DAF Dealer group, HTC.
The creation of the EV sales and service function is part of a wider senior management shake-up at DAF Trucks. Nigel Beckett has been appointed UK parts sales and marketing director following the retirement of Trevor Mitchell. Beckett joined DAF Trucks in June 2005, fulfilling a number of senior management roles; most recently as business planning director. That position is now filled by Gareth Halliwell who departs his role as dealer sales director – a responsibility he has held since 2019. Halliwell, too, is a ‘DAF man’ having embarked upon his career with PACCAR Financial (DAF Trucks’ in-house finance division) in 2007 before moving to truck sales in 2012.
Gareth is replaced by Adam Russell, who becomes UK dealer dales director. Russell joined DAF Trucks in 2008 gaining a thorough grounding in parts and fleet sales positions before his most recent role as business services manager.
